Okay so I’m finally doing it. I’m starting a newsletter. I’ve been threatening it for years, but today I got back my edits for my rewrite and I’m the Queen of Productive Procrastination, so here we are… welcome! (I hope I don’t suck at this.) Actually, I probably will suck at this so please expect random intimate ramblings, lots of typos and capitalisations that reveal that I grew up in too many different places and am still confused.
So where to start? I’ve had six weeks off since I handed in my first draft and in that time I’ve read (and recommend):
– Perfume by Patrick Suskind
– The Guest by Emma Cline
– The Soulmate by Sally Hepworth
– I also started Bunny by Mona Awad but will only finish that one after my redrafting is done now. So far it’s BRILLIANT.
I’ve also finally seen Succession – I’m just heading into season four after starting three weeks ago. I love-love-love it. Totally get all the fuss.
Umm… I’ve moved in with my boyfriend and so far that’s going really well! Except he keeps buying chocolate biscuits like I have any kind of self-control. Which reminds me of a Creative Writing lecturer I once had. When asked for the best bit of writing advice she could offer she said: ‘keep your Tim Tams in the freezer, you won’t get as sick if you eat the whole bag’. She was right.
But yes, I have my rewrite back, and all jokes aside I’m super excited to get into it. I’m kind of in love with this book and I can’t wait to see it in its final form. I’m guessing that process will be the subject of my next newsletter….
All love, Pip xx
